In the Presbyterian Church in America, it is the responsibility of the Session to examine and receive new members. The pastor will schedule your meeting with the elders after you have given him your completed Membership Application.

1.  We welcome into our membership all who take the following vows in the presence of the Session:

a. Do you acknowledge yourself to be a sinner in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure, and without hope except through His sovereign mercy?

b. Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and rest upon Him alone for salvation as He is offered in the Gospel?

c. Do you resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as becomes a follower of Christ?

d. Do you promise to support the Church in its worship and its work to the best of your ability?

e. Do you submit yourself to the government and discipline of the Church, and  promise to strive for its purity and peace?

2. Baptism administered by an ordained minister is required of all seeking membership, unless the applicant has previously been baptized. We accept as valid any baptism administered by an ordained minister in a church of Jesus Christ.

3.  You will be received into the church by one of three means:

a. Profession of Faith—Covenant children becoming communicant members (meaning members who take communion), new Christians, or those who have not been members of a Bible-believing church are received by profession of faith.

b. Letter of Transfer—We will receive by church letter anyone who is in good and regular standing in any Bible-believing church. We will be happy to request a letter from your previous church.

c. Reaffirmation of Faith—Those who cannot secure a letter of transfer (some churches do not grant letters to churches outside their denomination) or who    are not currently members of Bible-believing church are received on their own statement of faith.

4. After you have been interviewed by the Session into membership, we will have a

Joining Sunday on which all new members will be presented as a group to the congregation. Those needing baptism will ordinarily be baptized on that date.
